Beaver Scouts are children aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Our Beaver Colony admits chlidren on or after their 6th birthday. They can move to the Cub Section from the age of seven and a half.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. In Old Windsor they meet on Tuesday evenings between 6.15 and 7.30pm.
Our Beaver Colony organises sleepovers and outdoor activities as part of the programme.

Air Activity badge and Experimenter Activity badge

Kingfisher is running the Air Activities badge. Using a hair dryer we managed to launch a hot-air balloon (chinese lantern) which then reached the roof apex. The Beavers, themselves, made helicopter rotors - can you spot them in the pictures below?

A squadron of model aircraft is almost finished. The Beavers have completed a flight word search and dot-to-dot drawings of aircraft to a very good standard.

Experimenter - so far most of us have tried Floating and Sinking, Rocket Mice (great fun 100% success rate), Floating Ball Game (reasonable success) and 'in the bag Ice Cream'. With this we achieved an excellent rate of success and some very cold, yummy ice cream.

To complete both Activity Badges we will be holding a Balloon Rocket launch 'Zoom Off' at the end of January and might even pull in ink spots (chromatography).

Ice Cream - work in progress - note the gloves Serving the Ice Cream
