About Us

The 7th Windsor (Old Windsor) Scout Group was formed in 1910 and has been providing the young people of Old Windsor with opportunities to take part in Scouting ever since. The group is based at its Headquarters in Queen's Close, Old Windsor and provides a variety of activities for any young person (both boys and girls) who is aged from 6 years to 14½ years of age. There are 4 Sections within the group. They are as follows:

Beavers (6yrs – 8 yrs)
Fun filled learning including arts, crafts and games. Occasional sleepovers.

Cubs (8yrs- 10½ yrs)
More fun and games with an introduction to “Scouting Skills”. Some weekend Camps.

Scouts (10½ yrs – 14½ yrs)
“Scouting Skills” through fun and games. Camping and outdoors play an important role.

Explorers (14 yrs - 18yrs)
Explorers are the fourth section of the Scouting movement. Right from the time of Baden-Powell, there have been arrangements for young people who wanted to continue after their time in the Scout Section, and in 1967, Venture Scouts were formed from the existing Senior Scout and Rover Scout Sections.

During the late 1990s we decided that, to meet the changing needs of young people, there should be two sections for the over-14s; Explorer Scouts for 14 to 18-year-olds, and the Scout Network for 18 to 25s.

Background

There is an annual subscription (currently £80 per child per annum) which covers such things as each section's weekly activities, maintenance of the building, and insurance through the Scout Association. More ambitious pursuits such as camps and trips away incur extra costs. The Group is a registered charity and does as much fund raising as it can to keep costs down. All the Leaders within the sections are volunteers and are not paid in any way by the Group or the Scout Association. Although we are based in the village of Old Windsor, we do accept any child within a reasonable distance, space permitting.

Beavers   - Meet Tuesdays 6.15-7.30 pm (term time only)
Cubs        - Meet Mondays  6.30-8.00 pm
Scouts     - Meet Wednesdays 7.00-8.30 pm
Explorers - Meet Thursdays 7.30-9.30 pm
